Discover what to do when your dishwasher isn’t cleaning well, when water accumulates at the bottom after a wash cycle, when dishes have white spots, and what might cause water leakage
The dishwasher has become an indispensable appliance in most households in Serbia. It’s needless to say how much time this appliance saves us daily, and it’s well-known that dishwashers consume less electricity and water compared to manual dishwashing.

COMMON LAUNDRY MISTAKES TO AVOID
Like all appliances used daily, malfunctions and irregularities can occur. Sometimes it’s necessary to call a technician, but when it comes to dishwashers, many interruptions can be resolved independently by users, as they aren’t typically the result of major mechanical failures.
Dirty Dishes After Washing
The dishwasher is running, completes the entire washing cycle, but dishes remain dirty afterward. Before calling a technician, check a few things: Ensure proper dish loading. Is the dishwasher overloaded with dishes, causing them to overlap, preventing the nozzles from reaching all surfaces?
Check the condition of the dishes you’re loading into the dishwasher. All dishes must be free of coarse dirt and large food particles. Pay particular attention to ensuring that dirt on the dishes doesn’t dry and harden before loading them into the machine. Therefore, it’s necessary to lightly rinse all dishes after meals or food preparation, while the dirt hasn’t yet dried and hardened. If the above isn’t the issue, inspect the condition of the nozzles.
The spray arm rotors, both upper and lower, must rotate freely without obstruction. Ensure that the spray nozzles aren’t clogged. The spray arm rotors can be easily removed for cleaning. If you’re unsure how, consult the user manual for your dishwasher model.
Clogging of the nozzle holes is common, where dirt, food particles, and fruit seeds can become lodged. Clean them using a toothpick or an old toothbrush. As the spray nozzles are made of plastic, avoid using sharp or metal objects.
White Spots Remain on Dishes After Washing
White spots can be a result of low-quality dishwasher detergent or hard water. First, try using higher-quality cleaning agents, and if the dishwasher is functioning correctly, this problem can be resolved by using high-quality All-in-One dishwasher tablets, which contain both cleaning and shine agents.
White spots may also result from hard water, i.e., water with excessive mineral content. Again, the solution is to use higher-quality cleaning agents or select a program that operates at lower washing temperatures. Due to low-quality detergent, the dishwasher itself may become soiled.
Purchase a dishwasher cleaning agent and use it according to the instructions, while using a program with the highest temperature. If the problem is resolved in this way, use higher-quality All-in-One dishwasher tablets in the future.
Water Accumulates at the Bottom of the Dishwasher After Washing
A small amount of water isn’t cause for panic, but a significant amount of water at the bottom of the dishwasher after a wash is usually a sign of a dirty filter. Check where the filter for washing is located on your dishwasher model and how to clean it. Users should be able to perform this task independently without the use of tools.
Also, check the condition of the drainage hose. The drainage hose is the ribbed hose. Ensure that it isn’t blocked, pressed by a piece of furniture, or folded.
Water Leakage from the Dishwasher
First, check where the water is leaking. If water appears at the junction of the door and the dishwasher itself, something may be stuck preventing the door seal from sealing properly. Check the entire seal for foreign objects. If water appears under the dishwasher, check whether the water appears at the beginning of the washing cycle during the water intake phase or later during drainage.
As issues usually arise from hose connections and the hoses themselves, this can help you determine whether the issue is with the inlet or outlet hose. With the dishwasher turned off and disconnected from the power supply, inspect the underside to see if any hoses are damaged or poorly attached.
The Dishwasher Won’t Turn On
If the dishwasher won’t turn on, it may be a malfunction, or it could be a minor issue. In modern, electronically packed machines, sometimes a minor problem can occur. Turn off the machine while it’s off and then turn it back on. Check if it’s a voltage problem.
Perhaps there’s an issue with the fuse in the socket where the machine is plugged in. Check the fuses, and to verify if there’s power, you can test by connecting another device, such as a table lamp.
