Dealing with ants in your house doesn’t always have to involve buying expensive and toxic products. The best solution is often (almost) free.
We’ve all surely fought with ants in our homes or apartments at least once. They tend to gather where there’s food, and that’s the last place you want to see them – the kitchen. Instead of purchasing costly treatments and chemicals, try using items you already have at your disposal to combat these pesky insects.
Coat critical areas with freshly squeezed lemon juice. Ants are repelled by citric acid, so as soon as they sense it, they’ll steer clear. Squeeze lemon juice along cracks where ants appear. One of the essential spices we all have in our kitchen, cinnamon, can also be very effective. Sprinkle a small amount in corners where ants gather.
Alternatively, you can make a solution of half a liter of water and two tablespoons of cinnamon. Spray the areas where ants are present with the obtained mixture. Vinegar is another household item with countless uses. Spray ants with a solution of vinegar and water in a 1:2 ratio.
Instead of poison, you can use cornmeal. Feed the ants cornmeal. They’ll carry it back to their nests, but since they can’t digest it, it will kill them. It might be a bit harsh, but it’s effective.
