Four Rules for Carpet Cleaning

Four Rules for Carpet Cleaning

Professional Carpet Cleaning Services: The Ultimate Solution

The first and most effective rule when it comes to carpet cleaning is to entrust the task to a professional carpet service. Nowadays, cleaning prices are quite affordable, making this service well worth it. It’s not about having someone else do the work while you relax, but rather ensuring that the job is done much more efficiently.

Carpet services and car washes have specialized machines and powerful vacuums that can extract much more dirt from deep within carpets than you could manage on your own.

DIY Carpet Cleaning: Avoiding Water Saturation

If you still prefer to do it yourself, then follow the second rule – avoid saturating the carpet with water. Those living in houses with yards may have the space to take the carpet outside and wash it with a hose and water. However, this method often yields unsatisfactory results.

When exposed to water, the dust accumulated within the carpet can turn into mud, which is difficult to remove. Once it dries, this mud can harden, causing more harm than good.

Effective Carpet Dust Removal: Shake It Out!

The less moisture used during cleaning, the better. If possible, take the carpet outside and shake it vigorously to remove excess dust. This method is much more effective in eliminating kilograms of dust compared to water washing.

Only after this should you tackle any stains. This can be done using a damp, well-wrung cloth. You can also add a small amount of dishwashing detergent to the water to help remove stubborn stains. Ensure that the cloth you use is well wrung out to prevent water from seeping into the carpet while you press down.

Tackling Stubborn Stains: The Vinegar Solution Trick

For the most stubborn stains, you can employ the following trick: mix vinegar and water in a 1:2 ratio in favor of water. Pour this solution into a bottle with a pump sprayer and spray it onto the stain. Place a dry cotton cloth over the stain and iron over it.

If your iron has the option, use the steam function. Iron the carpet in that area for about half a minute, but be careful not to let the iron come into direct contact with the carpet, as it can easily damage it.
